Rejoice Over Your Assignment

The Last Sunday of 2015 I officially completed 1 year of pastoring. As I have taken the mantel from my father being the 2nd generation pastor of Berea Family Tabernacle, I begin to reflect on the fact that I didn't ask for the pastorate, but I accept it fully and whole heartedly! Its amazing how God will take you at your word when you say "Lord Use Me"! In this case I had to change some of my plans (at least the order of them). I have learned that God has a plan to bring out of you what you don't know is in you. The process may be painful and you may have to do and say somethings that you never thought you would do or say. But at the end of the day you must realize that TRUE MINISTRY IS NEVER ABOUT YOU!!! As a pastor you have to ask yourself "Am I building a legacy or the Kingdom of God? The answer to this question will determine if and how much God can trust you. Just keep in mind that the more God trusts you the more uncomfortable your assignment will get! God always trusts us more than we trust ourselves! It's proven by the complexity of our assignments! The more uncomfortable you are with your assignment the more God is comfortable with his choosing you! Just accept that your life has just shifted not just forward, but higher! The reason why your assignment cannot be taken personal is because a God giving assignment is always bigger than you. Therefore it will always affect more than you and will ultimately live longer than you! Don't cringe because of the discomfort of today, but survive for the sake of the manifestation of tomorrow! What you feel now is not the RESULT; it's the PROCESS!

Power To Control Your Thoughts

I've been praying for the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) in my life. The one thing that most of us struggle with is temperance. Temperance is defined as moderation in action, thought, or feeling! God has given us the power to gain control over not only our actions, not only our feelings, but more importantly OUR THOUGHTS!!! That blows my mind because the mind is so powerful and creative that we can create what does not exist! Many of us have struggled with our thoughts for years. Thought about guilt, low self-esteem, lust, jealously, suicide, and the list goes on and on. So the million dollar question becomes "How do I change how I think after I've been thinking one way for so long"? Philippians 4:8 says "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—keep thinking about these things" (ISV). You have to put in practice. It may not change overnight, but you have to start doing what the word tells us to do until it becomes a part of our nature. Practicing good thoughts will keep you from mischief, from feeling bad about yourself, from feeling guilt, anger, jealousy, and all other thoughts that are provoked by the enemy! This can only be done with the help of the Lord Jesus! So get ready to become free from something that has kept you away from being victorious for years: YOUR OWN MIND!!!!!!

Inauguaration Day For YOU!

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I think it's very befitting for us to dedicate today's blog to Him. It makes it that much more special since this is also the day for the public Inauguration of our nations first black president's 2nd term! One thing that Both President Obama and Dr. King share is their fortitude to move forward in their purpose without letting negative people to stop them. They both have taken it upon themselves to "inaugurate" themselves into their purpose long before the world recognized them! They both are example of what can happen if you remain focused on "That Thing" God put in your in spite of people who don't want to see you succeed. Ecclesiastes 9:10 says "Whatever your hand find to do, do it with thy might"! I love that scripture because it challenges the reader to find a focus and stay focused until your focus has become a legacy! In this day and age men are not the men that they should because instead of recognizing the value that God has put into them they would rather another man to value them. To make matters worse they are foolish enough to believe the reduced comments that people categorize them. But, today I'd like to "INAUGURATE" you to your future mind set of impossibilities! God's word says that you shall be the head and not the tale; It says that you are peculiar; It says that you are above all people on the face of the earth! Not because of your abilities, but because his devine power has given you ALL things that pertain to life and Godliness (II Peter 1:3 ). God's word has elevated you to an office of authority in your own life! You have the power to free yourself from believing what your haters have to say about you and start believing what God has to say about you!!! I leave you with this quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr: "If the Negro (Man) is to be free, he must move down into the inner resources of his own soul and sign, with a pen and ink of self-asserted manhood, his own Emancipation Proclamation."

Nurture Good Relationships

We must learn to nurture the good relationships that God allows us to come into. If God has allowed someone profitable to come into our life we have to invest into them. Of course it is required to love everyone that comes into your path, but everyone is not sent your way for you to pull strength from. Proverbs 27:17 tells us that “Iron sharpens iron”, which simply means the people you keep close to you must be equally as strong as you (if not stronger) in order for you to remain as strong as you are! God always holds you to a standard to get better and never worse. The relationships that you invest your time, your prayers, and your sacrifices will always be the ones will ultimately have an effect on your future! Whether it be a friendship, love life, or a business relationship it must be nurtured in order for you to benefit from it. There may even be times where your relationship will challenge you in ways that don’t always seem favorable to you; IF IT’S WORTH HAVING, IT’S WORTH FIGHTING FOR! Most importantly, we must all have a relationship with Jesus Christ! He is the only one who can promise to NEVER leave or forsake (give up) us! Having a relationship with Him will direct us to the people that we need to have positive relationships with. He will put people in your life who you can benefit from as well as they benefit from you. Spend time talking to Jesus (he hears your every word)! Invest time into reading your bible. Practice living out his word. What I’m trying to say is nurture your relationship with him so he can guide your decisions (Psalms 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path). The moment you do this you will start to develop other relationships with people who can make you better and challenge you to live your life on an uphill road called “BETTER”!

The Pain of Your Purpose

When God's hands are on you then the pains that you experience in your life are not design to kill you, embarace you, or to punish you. Your pains are simple your permission to grow! You experience things that will do one or two things; (1.)Make you, or (2.) break you! These trials that you face are only for a season. You are in the season of a SHIFTING in you life! The good news is that this is merely the bootcamp of your purpose because there will be glory after this!
